Billy Jack Robertson

The Houston bar The Exile closed in 1986 and by that time the painting of "Mr Exile"
had hung in the club for at least twenty years. Robertson was the model for that painting,
artist now unknown. Fortunately it found its way to GCAM in Houston (the Gulf Coast
Archives & Museum), and below you can see it used in an Exile ad from 1970 and in a recent
photo. The painting is also mentioned in the obituary of his partner, Erwin Thaman.

   

He died of cirrhosis of the liver
