Turner has some gay history under his belt: as a UH student, and
a member of the GAA, he filed the parade application for 1977,
and the Chronicle (why?) felt the need to include his address,
likely to out him. This was actually his parent's address, and as a
student, he lived at home.

As it turned out, there was no money to actually stage the parade...
that is, until Anita Bryant came to town and the community rallied
to do a now historic protest, known to many as "Houston's Stonewall"
